Pup Waits Outside Neighbor's Door Every Night To Share In Dinnertime

There's nothing like sharing a meal with a neighbor, especially when they're the one preparing the food. Just ask Tucker, an eight-year-old Dalmatian, who stops by his neighbors' houses whenever he smells dinner on the stove, refusing to leave until he gets a bite.

Tucker has been entertaining his mom, Shannon Haldeman, since he was just two months old, and this latest habit is no different. As a puppy, Tucker followed his mom everywhere, quickly becoming her "little spotted shadow."

But as Tucker grew, his curiosity about the world around him grew. Instead of following his mom closely on walks, Tucker sometimes began to stray. Haldeman would happily watch Tucker greet all his furry neighbors, from dogs at the beach to neighborhood cats on patrol. Until one day they came across a house that smelled delicious, and everything changed.

As soon as Tucker smelled his neighbors' delicious food, he broke away from his mom and ran to their door. Tucker waited quietly for his neighbor to open the door and offer him a bite to eat. Luckily, the neighbor did, and he's been a fan of this habit ever since.

Haldeman told The Dodo: "If you let him out at their dinnertime, he'll wander around and wait by the door. They only started inviting him in recently! Now he visits at least 3-4 times a week."

You can watch that moment here:

As usual, Tucker shows up at his neighbors' houses as soon as he smells food. Most days, the neighbors let Tucker in while his mother waits outside for her hungry son. He usually emerges a few minutes later, licking his lips with delight.

"It's a short visit! Usually about 10 minutes," Haldeman said. "I came to find him there cleaning up their plates after they'd finished!"

Tucker seems to enjoy anything his neighbors offer him, including peanut butter and yogurt. While most puppies might be drawn to other animals in the house, Tucker's visits have only one motive.

"He's just there for the food! He gets his treat and wants to go home," Haldeman said.

Tucker is always pleased with himself whenever he leaves his neighbors' house. Sure, this spoiled boy receives multiple nutritious meals at home, but there's something extra special about his neighbors' cooking. Luckily, they love sharing their meals with him.

As one of the few Dalmatians in San Diego, California, Tucker often gets a lot of attention. His appearance is certainly unique, as is his personality—and his doting mom couldn't be happier.

"He's a very sweet boy, and he follows me everywhere," Haldeman said. "He's always up for an adventure."
