Bali Paws rescuers have saved many abused animals, and seeing the sweet dogs thrive in their new permanent homes makes all their efforts worthwhile!
One day, one of their team members discovered a small hairless puppy. It had been abandoned and was hiding in a doghouse outside a property. Despite their expertise, their rescuers were surprised by its condition.
The child was suffering from a severe case of mange that had left it bald and painful. It was also suffering from an infection in one of its eyes.
Desi, a rescuer, stated that the poor girl had spent her entire life in a cage while being used for breeding. Her captors abandoned her on the streets when she was “no longer sweet and healthy.” Desi, on the other hand, was able to lure her out of hiding and immediately began showering her with all the love and attention she desired.
“She was super calm when I grabbed her,” Desi explained. "I think she knew I wouldn't hurt her."
They named the dog Lucy Ray and once her physical issues were resolved, her true personality came out! Her rescuers described her as "extremely sweet" and "always wanting to cuddle."
She got healthier and gained weight over the next seven weeks. She also met other dogs, learned to walk on grass and experienced a loving home for the first time.
It was all good preparation because Bali Paws quickly found a beautiful forever home in Centreville, Virginia, on the other side of the world!
The moment Matt and Brianna saw Lucy Ray's pictures and heard her story, they knew she had to be in their lives. They were head over heels in love as soon as the little dog arrived!
"We both fell in love with her," Brianna explained. "She was just so sweet and we felt like she immediately took hold of our hearts and acted like she was ours."
Lucy Ray is now one of the most spoiled dogs in the world! According to her Instagram account, she's "moved from the streets of Bali to silk sheets" and she couldn't be happier!
"She definitely shows us how much she loves and appreciates us, and we reciprocate because we love her more than anything," Matt said.
Brianna explained that they are continually amazed by their pet's ability to forgive and move on from the traumatic beginnings of her life. "I think it's wonderful that after everything she's been through, she's so sweet, loving, and trusting of us."
