It is shocking that so many dogs are abused and neglected. Even animals who have been through the worst can find a happy ending and a loving home thanks to our compassionate rescuers.
This was the remarkable story of an Arkansas dog, who traveled from an abusive home to an extended stay in a shelter before finding his forever home.
According to a group post on Facebook, a dog named Neo was placed at the North Little Rock shelter in March 2022 due to an animal abuse case. He was considered evidence in the case and was not allowed to leave the shelter.
After suffering horrific abuse, the poor dog ended up in the shelter for over a year. After 450 days, a shelter employee reached out to Ali Baybaki, the program director at the nearby Best Friends pet resource center.
Ali was originally skeptical whether saving her could help Neo. “When dogs are confined for a long time, they can have problems,” she told TV station KENS 5. “It can be really difficult to rehabilitate them, especially if they were there because of abuse.”
However, Ali was stunned when she met Neo. “Meeting a dog who went through all that and immediately trusted you and wanted attention from you right away was amazing,” Ali went on to say.
Rescuers provided Neo with a temporary foster home. Ali said Neo's story reminded them of their impact on animals' lives.
Despite everything Neo had been through, it was clear he was ready for adoption, so Best Friends Pet Resource Center began searching for a forever home for the loving dog.
When Linda Songbird heard Neo's story, she knew she could finally give him the home he deserved, calling it "love at first sight."
Linda adopted Neo on August 6, and they have had a happy ending ever since. “It makes your life worthwhile.” "It's amazing," Linda told KENS 5. "It's there as soon as you walk in. It's right next to the door. It's great." "I am happy to see you!"
We're thrilled that Neo has finally found a home! Thank you to this rescue for taking him in and putting him up for adoption!
