A dog has been rescued from a lake in Lancashire after spending the night clinging to a wooden structure for protection.
Early this morning, someone noticed a German Shepherd clinging to life on the shore of Lake Fairhaven (March 25). Along with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the help of the public, police in the surrounding area rushed to rescue the stranded dog.
The dog was reportedly handed over to the neighborhood RSPCA and is safe and sound. According to LancsLive, the dog is being treated by a veterinary health centre, and its owner will need to provide proof of identity.
In an attempt to find the dog's owner, police say they will also conduct investigations near the lake. They started a request for a media campaign.
A German Shepherd was reportedly caught in the water at Lake Fairhaven this morning after spending the night there, according to a Fylde Police post on social media.
“We can confirm that the dog was rescued by our colleagues at Lancs Fire & Rescue as well as a number of members of the public, which is an excellent result.
The veterinary health center takes care of the dog, and the owner must provide documentation.
“The dog is now safe and in the care of the neighbourhood's RSPCA. To see if we can identify the owner of this dog, we will be looking at CCTV footage of the lake.
