Despite how hard no-kill animal shelters struggle to find permanent homes for the creatures in their care, every now and then a dog is overlooked by potential adopters, despite the shelter's best efforts.
Dahlia is one of these dogs. The American Staffordshire Terrier Mix spent her entire life at the Santa Barbara Humane Society. She arrived at six months old. The shelter's longest resident, who is now 7 years old, needs a forever home, so volunteers there are working to find him one.
A volunteer at the shelter commented, “She is a sweet, smart, loving and loyal big dog... She is a really beautiful, smart, loving and loyal big dog... I am looking for a great pet home for her.” “You'll make someone very happy!”
to update:
The shelter's call fell on deaf ears. Dahlia received a loving home shortly after the Humane Society issued her appeal! After seeing her story on television, an Orange County man drove to the shelter to meet her.
Human society couldn't be happier. "We're over the moon!" They announced in a statement. For those of you who have inquired about Dahlia's health...she has finally found her forever home!! Thank you to everyone who shared her story and contacted us!
