Nobody Wanted This Dog Because Of Her Looks–’Til One Family Came Along

Disfigured animals have a hard time finding homes in shelters, but this dog was “lucky.”

Lisa, a 10-week-old puppy with scars all over her face and swollen eyes that required surgery, was brought to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. Shelter staff weren't sure they would be able to find a home for the puppy until Christine Doebler and her family arrived.

“The whole time, my daughters were afraid that someone else would kidnap her,” Doblar told The Dodo. "Despite her unusual appearance, she has a wonderful, sparkling personality. We looked at a few other dogs, but none could compare to the fact that she went to every one of us and was loving and energetic with everyone she met." The family returned the next day to adopt Lisa, whom they named "Lucky."

Lisa, a 10-month-old pup, was recently surrendered to an animal shelter in California.

Her face was disfigured, and she needed eyelid surgery.

The chances of Lisa being adopted were slim, according to shelter workers.

That is, until Christine Dopplar and her family arrive.

“She simply has a great and bright personality...”

"We looked at a few other dogs, but none of them came close."

“Because we're both lucky,” the family decided to name her "Lucky" and adopted her on the same day.
