The story of Celeste, a devoted dog mom, has rippled across the Internet. Celeste was heartlessly abandoned when she was pregnant at the age of two, even though she is peaceful, kind, and loving. She was forced to live on the streets and give birth without protection.
Given her difficult circumstances, she practically failed to do everything in her power to care for her precious puppies.

Celeste and her five puppies were discovered in a severely emaciated condition, which makes sense. All the nutrients she had were spent on feeding the puppies and keeping them warm during the bitter cold of winter.
“She was so emaciated, and these puppies were nursing like crazy, and she did her job as a mother even though she was starving,” recalls Celeste’s adoptive mother, Eileen.

Celeste's puppies were found to be in perfect health despite their difficult start in life. Celeste's physique showed the scars of malnutrition from her struggle to keep her five dogs alive. The loving mother did everything she could to keep her children safe and healthy for almost five months. It was Celeste who finally caught the attention.
“Celeste would rather starve to death than starve her young,” the BC SPCA said. “She sacrificed everything to keep her little ones safe after a difficult life abroad, and it's time she received the same affection.”
It seemed like fate when Celeste and her puppies were welcomed into the home of SPCA of British Columbia foster mother, Eileen Nelson Hosack. Celeste entered her life immediately after her dear friend died. It was as if the time had been carefully planned. They needed each other. Celeste and her puppies needed love and care, and who better than a canine partner to soothe the love of a wounded heart?
Celeste was able to gain weight and strength gradually but regularly after that, thanks to a careful “re-eating” strategy. Her body responded well to six small, nutrient-dense meals each day, and she quickly gained 90 pounds. Additionally, four of her five dogs have already found loving homes and had comfortable socializations.
It is clear that she has found her forever home based on her response to treatment and her relationship with her adoptive mother. Celeste, whose family calls her “Mom,” lives the life of a spoiled puppy, cuddling on the couch with her family and staying warm by the fire. It's a world away from his old life on the street. She is no longer withering, but has discovered her calling. Mum is now safe, warm and loved.
